Can Those Who Have Had An Appendectomy Give Birth Normally?
Assallamuallaikum I have had an appendectomy about a year ago then … Can I now get pregnant and give birth normally?
Hello Rika Pramita, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
Appendix is an inflammation of the intestine called the appendix. The appendix is part of the human digestive tract and is not related to the reproductive tract. Most people with appendicitis who have undergone surgery do not experience reproductive-related problems. However, in a small proportion of people, fertility problems can be found after appendicitis, either because of complications from the appendix itself (such as a ruptured appendix) or complications from surgery. Both can cause adhesions to the fallopian tubes that can interfere with the meeting of the egg and sperm cells. Even so, cases like this are quite rare.
Meanwhile, a history of appendectomy alone will not interfere with pregnancy and childbirth. You can still give birth normally even though you have had an operation for appendicitis. You can further consult your condition with the obstetrician if there is fertility problems, that is, if it has been 1 year or more you have tried to get pregnant and have not succeeded.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
