Can Toddlers Have Bruises On Their Ears?
My doctor wants to ask if a toddler’s ear can be bruised at the neck? What are the causes, huh, doctor? Please explain
Good evening, thanks for the question
The answer is yes. Contusions or contusions are the result of blunt trauma to the soft tissue of the auricle. In this condition an injury occurs in capillary blood vessels resulting in swelling and redness that appears on the surface of the skin. Mild bruising will heal spontaneously in about 2 weeks.
In addition to bruising, children can also complain of symptoms such as:
1. Ear pain
4. Hematoma or blood accumulation between the cartilage and the surface of the skin
5. Ear bleeding
6. Ear infections
The underlying causes of bruising in the ear include:
1. Blunt trauma
2. Trauma during sports
3. Foreign objects that hit the ear
4. Hit the ear
5. Loud sound
Bruising due to the twisting of the ear may be mild, but need to be aware because in severe cases it can cause complications that are abnormal shape of the auricle. Consult with your doctor for an examination if the bruises are large enough, the pain is unbearable, pus is pushing, high fever, or there are open sores.
Here are the efforts that can be done at home as initial treatment, namely:
1. Cool the bruised area for about 10 minutes to stop internal bleeding.
2. If the child complains of pain then give paracetamol or ibuprofen.
3. Provide comfort for children.
That's all, hope you can help
