Can Water Enter The Head?
Assalammualaikum, nWhile I was swimming accidentally the water entered my nose and felt like it entered the front of the head (forehead), which I want to ask whether water can enter the front of the head (forehead) through the nose ?. And what is the danger?. NPlease explain and I thank you.
Water that enters through the nose, rarely can directly enter the sinus cavity in the upper front (frontalis). What you may experience is a symptom that appears due to irritation of the nasal wall due to swimming pool water. This condition shouldn't be dangerous and will go away on its own.
Water that enters the mouth and nose is more at risk of causing pneumonia as a result of choking into the throat and into the lungs. This condition is called aspiration pneumonia. This medical condition is dangerous and must be treated immediately. Read here to recognize the symptoms of Aspiration Pneumonia.
To deal with your nasal complaints, do rinse your nose with salt water one to two times a day. You can also inhale steam from a basin filled with warm water mixed with 2-5 drops of eucalyptus oil / other essential oil (according to your choice).
If within 3 days, your complaint does not improve, do a direct consultation with an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. The doctor will ask questions about your complaint, perform an examination of the nose and sinus cavities and provide medical treatment according to the diagnosis and cause.
