Can Women With Uterine Deformities Get Pregnant?
Hello … I checked the womb turned out to be my uterine uterus unicornus … can I have offspring with uterine abnormalities like that? Please answer, thank you
Hello Rossy Dwi Prihatine,
Uterus unicornus is one of malformations (deformities) of the uterus when in the formation phase while still in the womb (congenital abnormalities). The unicorn's uterus is usually smaller than the size of the normal uterus and only has a fallopian tube (a channel that channels the egg cells from the ovary sac). Uterus unicornus can be a cause of infertility (infertility) and can increase the risk of miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, premature birth, placental abnormalities, impaired growth of the baby during the womb, and premature rupture of membranes if the patient is pregnant.
The condition of the unicornus uterus can be found in 2-8% of infertile women. Most patients do not feel any complaints and patients can remain pregnant. The diagnosis of the unicornus uterus can be carried out using the help of supporting examinations such as ultrasonography (transvaginal, abdominal), MRI, hysterosalfingography, and hysteroscopy. Pregnancy in uterine conditions like this requires extra evaluation especially if abnormalities such as ectopic pregnancy occur that cannot be continued. Further consultation can you do with an obstetrician. Thus the explanation from me, may be useful.
