Can You Take Fish Oil Supplements And Antihypertensive Drugs Together?
Can you take fishQua and valsartan (heart medicine) together? R nPlease help.
Good evening, thanks for the question
Not all drugs can be taken together because each drug has a way of working and side effects. Some drug interactions can reduce each other's therapeutic effects or even increase the metabolism of other drugs.
Valsartan is a type of antihypertensive drug that works on angiotensin II which causes blood vessels to relax and lower blood pressure. Valsartan has interactions with several other drugs, for example increasing the risk of kidney damage if consumed with non-steroidal pain medications.
So far there are no data on the interaction of valsartan with fish oil supplements. However, from several studies fish oil has a significant effect in lowering blood pressure even though it is classified as low. So that the consumption of anti-hypertensive drugs together with watchful fish oil supplements can lower blood pressure more aggressively, so that the risk of pressure being too low.
Have regular consultation and control with your doctor if you want to take fish oil supplements so that their development can be monitored.
That's all, hope you can help
