Can You Use Facial Treatment When You Have Measles?
I just got measles and appeared reddish on the face. Can I use skincare like moisturizer or sunscreen or use powder?
Measles or measles (rubeola) is a disease caused by a viral infection that is transmitted through droplets (sprinkling of saliva while talking, coughing or sneezing). Like most other viral diseases, measles infection is also included as a self-limiting disease which means it can heal on its own without any specific treatment. Generally measles treatment only aims to overcome the symptoms that arise.
One of the common symptoms of measles is the appearance of skin rashes that will gradually turn black and peel. This rash will not actually leave scars unless a secondary infection (another infection) is formed that causes scarring so you should avoid using facial care products on the skin that can cause irritation. You should also refrain from scratching the rash.
Handling is given related to this rash is to maintain cleanliness of the body such as a warm bath with a soft antiseptic liquid or to wipe the body with a soft warm towel. You should also consult with your doctor directly if you have doubts or are still unclear about this in order to get a detailed explanation about the management of measles.
