Please explain. Thank you.
Hi Odha. In children aged 7 months, MPASI is generally introduced which aims as a transition period to family food. At this time, children begin to eat foods that contain nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. You can start from a thicker consistency first than breast milk which can be blended or given filtered slurry. This is so that the child's digestion is not surprised by big changes. Fish, meat, vegetables you can blender first. Then you can give papaya, banana, mashed avocado. Do not rush to change the menu so that children are not too confused by the many flavors that are introduced. You can change the menu every 2 or 3 days. Then, don't give up quickly in introducing food to your child, if he doesn't want to, don't force it and try again at the next meal.
Regarding the watery consistency, it can be influenced by the food the child eats, if only breast milk is consumed, then certain clinical conditions such as celiac disease, milk allergy (especially if given formula milk), gastroenteritis.
Consult your pediatrician for further information that is appropriate for your child's condition. A physical examination can help and an explanation of how watery a child's bowel movements are can help determine whether a child's bowel movements are normal or abnormal. Hope this is useful and thank you. Regards, Dr Alyssa
