Causes And Treatment Of Tetanus?
good night, permission to ask about tetanus. why C.tetani bacteria will first attack the area / manifest first in the facial area (risus sardonicus + trismus) rather than attacking other peripherals (such as muscle weakness, etc.)
Hello Fk students,
Clostridium tetani is a bacterium that causes tetanus where it releases neurotoxins which then attack the nervous system. These neurotoxins work by disrupting the performance of nerves that have the potential to cause muscle spasms or stiffness. The area that is often targeted is the jaw area, which causes the sufferer to cause symptoms of jaws clasping and cannot be opened or locked. This is also caused by one of them because the neurotoxins spread to the CNS through several mechanisms where the toxin will suppress the inhibitory process of the motor nueron and affect transmission at the neural junction. For more details, you should read through the textbook or reference further pathophysiology.
