Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
A runny ear can indicate inflammation. This inflammation generally occurs in the outer ear (otitis externa) or middle (otitis media).
External otitis is inflammation that occurs from the earlobe to the outer ear canal. This inflammation commonly occurs due to the habit of picking at the ear, infection of the ear skin, or also the buildup of cerumen (earwax). As a result of otitis externa, earwax production will increase, so that the ear becomes watery. Not only that, sufferers can also experience ear pain, itching, and decreased hearing function.
Meanwhile, otitis media is an inflammation that occurs in the hearing bones. The cause usually comes from the spread of infection from the respiratory tract that is not handled properly. This condition initially results in a buildup of inflammatory fluid (pus) in the middle ear. Furthermore, this build-up of inflammatory fluid will slowly damage the eardrum. And, when the eardrum is torn, the inflammatory fluid will come out through the outer ear.
Indeed, inflammation of the ear should not be overcome by cleaning the ear, for example by scraping it with a cotton bud or other sharp object. This can cause irritation and even sores on the skin of your ears.
You should see a doctor immediately so that it is treated properly. Usually, the doctor will do the ear fluid irrigation that comes out, then give several types of drugs. Alternatively, you will be referred to an ENT specialist for further treatment.
In the meantime, you can first do the following:
Stop cleaning your ears in the wrong way. Dry the secretions that come out of your ears using a clean towel or towel. Dry your ears after every shower. Prevent your ears from getting into water or other harmful particles. Don't dive too deep.
