Causes Of Baby’s Eyes Are Yellow?
Good afternoon, I have a 22 day old baby. Until now, my baby still has yellow in the eyes (half the whites of his eyes are clean), the lower tongue, and the inside of the gums. The fingers and toenails are not yellow. I’ve been drying my baby every day for 15 minutes. Is there any other alternative to cure my child’s jaundice other than drying in the sun? Then is there a standard age limit for yellow children?
Hello Lusiana, Thank you for your question on HealthReplies.com
Jaundice in newborns is common, because it is usually caused by less than optimal breast milk intake, which is usually caused by problems with the mother's milk production being not optimal, so that the baby's milk intake is very lacking, but it could also possibly be caused by other things, namely:
High bilirubin levels Premature babies Sepsis or infection that reaches the blood vessels Liver damage The baby's red blood cells are abnormal and easily damaged. Deficiency of certain enzymes, blood group and rhesus incompatibility of the baby with the mother, Viral and bacterial infections. Infants with certain medical conditions, jaundice can not be treated by drying it in the sun, therefore you should take your baby to a pediatrician for an examination, so that the cause can be identified. To find out the cause, the doctor will perform a physical examination of your baby, supporting examinations such as blood tests, so that the cause of your baby's jaundice can be identified.
Some things you can do at home are:
Give breast milk optimally. Eat a lot so that your milk production is a lot, and your baby is getting enough milk. Thank you, I hope this is useful. dr.Nurmarwiyah
