Causes Of Blood Loss At 40 Weeks Gestation?
Hi, at this time I was 40 weeks pregnant and passing from HPL, a few days ago I experienced red blood spots, but there were no signs of contraction. I also often defecate and urinate up to 5 times a day even though a little and feel pain when the feces / urine will come out. Like there is pain in the stomach. Is that normal? What should I do? Is waiting for contractions for the next week or immediately to the hospital for induction of childbirth?
Hello Chaterine Sienna,
A normal full-term pregnancy is 36-42 weeks of pregnancy. At that gestational age the mother begins to prepare for labor. At a large gestational age before the time of delivery the following are things that mothers can feel:
The frequency of urination increases
Spotting of blood can also occur before delivery. Blood spots that indicate the start of labor is called a bloody show, usually in the form of mucus mixed with blood. Bloody shows are also accompanied by uterine contractions that are more frequent, more regular, and long in duration. This is accompanied by the opening of the cervix on a deep examination. In some mothers it can be accompanied by seeping water. If you experience this you should immediately consult a doctor / nearest health facility.
When the estimated delivery date has passed, it should be checked by an obstetrician, to see if the condition of the uterus (fetus, placenta, amniotic fluid volume) is still in good condition. Regarding the need for induction or not, see the results of the examination later. The thing to watch out for is if the fetal movements are felt to be reduced or completely gone, fresh out in large quantities, abdominal pain even when touched. This may indicate abnormalities in your pregnancy. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
