Causes Of Lumps Under The Skin Around The Jaw And Under The Ear Arise?
Hello. Below my left ear is an unusual texture, right at the tip of the jaw. If touched normally does not feel, but if pressed just like there is a different texture. When pressed it also doesn’t hurt. The size is not large, maybe about 1 cm. Is this normal or can it be a sign of disease? thanks.
Lumps / protrusions under the skin around the jaw and under the ear can result from:
Enlarged lymph nodes
Soft tissue tumors
Variations in the jawbone from birth or due to trauma / injury
Harmful or not changes in the skin can be observed based on the increase in the size of the lump, changes in the overlying skin, disorders of the ear or jaw caused, the presence or absence of fever and the accompanying pain. To distinguish the causes of changes under the skin, a direct examination is needed by the doctor and the doctor needs to ask your complete complaint history. Some investigations also need to be done such as X-rays, MRI, CT-scan, to biopsy if there is a suspicion of the mass is a malignancy (cancer).
If there is no significant change in the lump, then you don't need to worry. However, if a lump grows rapidly or a lump appears around it or in other parts of the body, you should immediately consult a doctor. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
