Causes Of Misaligned Eyeballs?
, I want to ask if our eyeballs can reverse? I feel that my right and left eyeballs are different. the right eyeball is more in than the left. Or is it true that our eyeballs are not the same as right and left? If indeed the eyeball can recede, is there any special treatment / cure? and usually how much does it cost? thank you 😀
Hello dear Dinda,
Misalignment of the eyeballs is a sign of crossed eyes (strabismus). Another symptom that is often found is that the eyes appear to be looking at a different point of direction, for example one eye looks forward and the other looks slightly up / down / side, as a result a person with crossed eyes often tilts his head when he sees something. This condition is caused by disruption of the coordination of the eye-moving muscles, the exact cause is not always known. In severe impaired muscle coordination, double vision may occur.
Squints can occur from birth or childhood, as well as in adulthood. The most common cause of crossed eyes in children is one of the eyes working too hard to compensate for visual disturbances caused by nearsightedness (minus eyes), farsightedness, or astigmatism (cylinder eyes). Whereas in adults, crossed eyes are often associated with a history of trauma to the head or eyes, stroke, Guillan-Barre syndrome, Graves' disease (hyperthyroidism), or diabetes.
To ensure the health condition of your eyes, it would be better to see an ophthalmologist directly. Doctors can perform a series of special examinations, such as a corneal reflex test, retinal test, visual examination (visus), and correction using special monocular glasses. After confirming the diagnosis and severity of the squint, as well as identifying the underlying cause, the doctor will determine the best treatment steps, whether in the form of wearing glasses, eye exercises, botox injections, to surgery. Discuss with the eye specialist who treats you
