Causes Of Pain In The Jaw And Neck?
I have aches and pains in the left jaw to the left neck, left shoulder and up to my left hand,, I am very disturbed, what do you think I have pain?
Pain in the jaw, neck, shoulders, and arms is not a typical cause. Some of the conditions that are known to cause this complaint are:
Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) or jaw joint disorder. The complaint is usually pain when opening the mouth or experiencing a locked jaw sensation. Muscle tension in the painful area. Infection or inflammation of the teeth. Trigeminal neuralgia, a kind of pain in the facial and jaw muscles due to nerve compression. Coronary heart disease, usually the pain from the left chest radiates to the back, shoulder to jaw. Usually found in people aged over 40 years. An immediate examination by a doctor is needed to determine the cause of your complaints. Additional tests such as X-rays may be required if indicated. The best treatment will be adjusted according to the cause found.
Some tips for dealing with jaw pain:
Consume soft foods first. Cold compress with ice wrapped in a cloth on the painful area. Avoid consuming caffeine such as coffee. Avoid chewing gum. Avoid yawning too much. Hope this helps.
