Causes Of Red Eye In Children Aged 1 Year?
Good morning, short story my child is a 1 year old baby who is experiencing eye pain (red eyes both) and if I take my child out of the house and exposed to bright light my child can not open his eyes and fuss. but if in a low-light room it’s okay to open his eyes. if infected with other people as far as I know it is not, but the last time I liked to take the streets my child was riding a motorcycle. Is dust factor on the streets or sickness?
Good evening, thanks for the question
Complaints of red eye in daily practice mainly in children are often caused by the condition of conjunctivitis, which is inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye. Conjunctivitis can be caused by
Infection: bacteria, viruses Non-infections: allergies, dry eyes, chemical reactions, the use of contact lenses, foreign bodies in the eyes Apart from red eyes, complaints can be accompanied by secretions or eye discharge, generally there are no complaints of blurred vision, a lump, itching, watery. Complaints of photophobia (sensitive if exposed to light) are generally not typical signs and symptoms of conjunctivitis or mild inflammation in the eye. If the symptoms are found to be quite dominant then the doctor will usually suspect other more severe causes, such as uveitis (inflammation of the uvea), keratitis (inflammation of the cornea), or cellulitis (inflammation of the blood vessels).
If photophobia complaints are accompanied by pain and vision becomes blurry, immediately consult an ophthalmologist for proper examination and treatment. If it is really caused by a condition other than conjunctivitis, the delay in management can lead to more severe complications. if caused by conjunctivitis, then treatment is sufficient to control infection and improve personal hygiene. While avoiding rubbing your eyes, do regular hand washing, and use protective eyewear when doing activities under the sun.
That's all, hope you can help
