Causes Of Sudden Shortness Of Breath?

I used to have a history of asthma but it’s been almost 1 year now my asthma has disappeared, the doctor said his lungs are clean, only about 2 hours ago I suddenly had shortness of breath again and indeed my girlfriend is an active smoker. Has the asthma come back again? Thank you

Hi Devinabakar,
Thanks for asking on the HealthReplies.com forum.
Asthma is a long-term disease in which there is inflammation and narrowing of the airways, making it difficult for patients to breathe. The exact cause of asthma is unknown, it is associated with allergies, and is generally triggered by dust, cigarette smoke, vehicle fumes, animal dander, cold air, and others. So, if you are currently complaining of difficulty breathing after exposure to cigarette smoke, yes, chances are your asthma is relapsing. To be sure, check with your doctor, so that you can be evaluated and given the appropriate treatment.
The following tips can be done so that asthma rarely recurs:
Know the trigger factors for asthma and avoid these triggers Keep your home clean so it is free from dust, you should avoid using carpets in the bedroom Avoid keeping a lot of displays in the room Avoid exposure to air pollution, if needed, use a mask Manage psychological stress: relaxation, counseling Routine exercise, for example swimming Adequate rest Consumption of healthy food with a balanced menu, increase the intake of fruit and vegetables Thus hopefully useful.
