Causes Red Lines Around The Thighs, Calves, Waist And Chest?
Good morning, doctor. I’m a 19-year-old woman. There are many red lines around the thighs, calves, waist and chest, and I have treated them, but the red lines are getting more and more, is this a stretch or another disease?
Hello Tina Andriyani,
Stretch marks or striae are lines that go inward slightly that appear on the skin. Stretch marks appear because of the rapid increase in body size, stretching the skin cannot follow them so that stretch marks appear, for example when pregnant, gain weight drastically, bodybuilding, etc. Stretch marks mainly appear when the skin does not have enough collagen.
Stretch marks have a variety of colors in each person, ranging from whitish, brown, to reddish purple. Stretch marks can appear on any part of the body especially the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, breasts, upper arms near the armpits, etc. Eliminating stretch marks is not easy. Some products containing tretinoin, olive oil, almond oil, centella asiatica, shea butter, are claimed to prevent stretch marks, but their effect on removing or fading is unclear. Long-term and routine use may have to do with the fact that there is no longer any weight gain in between which can lead to new stretch marks. More invasive treatment is done by microdermabrasion, laser therapy, or surgery. Further consultation can be done with a dermatologist.
Thus the explanation from me, may be useful.
