Causes Swollen And Reddish Wounds After Propolis Application?
Hello, I want to ask, 4 days ago I fell from the motorbike, my parents told me to apply propolis, but to my knowledge I shouldn’t. Then now the wound on my hand is inflamed from reddish to swollen in the finger joint, is this happening because of propolis or the food that I consume like fishy meat eggs?
Hello Sasa, thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Previously I was Dr. Rio will try to answer your question.
Injury is the damage to the function and structure of normal body parts due to processes originating from inside or outside affecting certain organs. Wounds are divided into several types, namely clean wounds (wounds caused by surgery), clean wounds contaminated (surgical wounds that are exposed to non-sterile objects), contaminated wounds (injuries after accidents), and dirty wounds (wounds that have been infected with germs).
In the case you give, injuries occur due to the friction of your body to dirty objects on the streets. Handling of contaminated wounds must use clean methods and methods to prevent infection from occurring. Cleaning must also be done periodically and continuously until new tissue grows on the wound. Cleaning is actually only using simple ingredients such as saline / Nacl, Alcohol, bettadine, and if done in a clinic or health center equipped with sterilized equipment.
At present your wound has been classified as a dirty / infected wound due to an inflammatory reaction (swelling, pain, etc.). This happens because at first your wound is a contaminated wound and only given propolis fluid which incidentally is not a sterile liquid and cannot kill germs / pathogens. Germs in your wound will easily spread and develop because there are no external substances that can kill it (Bettadine, alcohol).
Right now what you can do is:
Immediately to the clinic / doctor's practice to get treatment on the wound that is good and right to prevent worsening infections. Clean the wound using bettadine / alcohol at home, do not use liquids that are not clear in the womb. Take the medication according to the dosage and recommendations from the doctor. Avoid wounds becoming wet and moist. Rest and eat enough to speed up the process of healing your wounds. So the answers from me, hopefully give an overview.
Thank you, good luck always :)
