Causes The Kidneys To Shrink?
excuse me I want to ask .. what causes the kidneys shrink? is it because it doesn’t consume enough water ????
Hello Septri, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
The kidneys are shrinking or reducing the size of the kidneys can occur for several reasons, including:
congenital kidney hypoplasia (a condition where the kidneys have shrunk from birth)
chronic kidney infection (chronic pyelonephritis)
blockage of the renal arteries (renal artery stenosis)
kidney atrophy due to chronic obstruction (for example due to stones or tumors)
chronic renal failure
Lack of consuming water will not directly shrink the kidneys. However, people who consume less fluids can increase their risk of developing kidney stones and kidney infections. Both can cause kidney size reduction.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
