, I gave birth on 3 sept 2019, puerperal blood that came out only 2 weeks, after that yellow fluid came out until the 40th day, right on the 40th day I was bleeding again but only 4 days, after that yellow discharge came out until now 26 November 2019. The liquid that comes out is yellow and smells. Why is that?

1 Answer:

Hi Emilia,

Thank you for the question.

The puerperium is the period from the release of the fetus and placenta until all the mucus remains completely clean pregnancy. The puerperium generally lasts for 4 to 8 weeks. Throughout the duration of the puerperium, mucus in the form of blood indeed only comes out in the first 1-2 weeks. Furthermore, because the remaining pregnancy tissue has begun to clean, the mucus that comes out will gradually turn yellow and then leucorrhoea.

If after childbirth you experience bleeding that lasts for 4 days, this is most likely a sign that your menstrual cycle has just begun. The yellow mucus and odor that comes out after menstruation may indicate vaginal discharge that arises due to irritation, infection, and even malignancy around your reproductive organs. This condition should be examined directly by a doctor or obstetrician to evaluate the possible cause, usually through a urine test, cervical mucus examination, ultrasound, or perhaps other supporting tests. With earlier treatment, the potential for this condition to last for a long time can certainly be minimized.

In the meantime, the first steps we can recommend to you are:

Every bath, after every bowel movement, and after every sexual intercourse, clean your genitals well with clean water, no need to use soap, fragrance, or antiseptics carelessly around the genitals
Avoid all forms of risky sex
When having sex, do not carelessly use sexual lubricants or spermicides without consulting a doctor first
Use underwear that is soft, absorbs sweat (not linen), and is replaced periodically
Don't stress too much
Do not also physical activity too tired
Drink more water, eat vegetables and fruits that are rich in antioxidants

Hope this helps ...
