Chances Are Someone Has Had Schizophrenia And Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) Simultaneously?
My girlfriend has schizophrenia, but she also has many personalities. Can Schizophrenia and DID be suffered by one person at the same time? Or is the illness only one of the two?
Hello, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com
Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) are two different diseases, and both have quite different symptoms.
Schizophrenia is basically a disturbance in one's mind, whereas DID is a disturbance in one's personality / identity. Both of these diseases can indeed be triggered because of a trauma in their life phase. The symptoms that appear are actually very different if further consultation with a psychiatrist has been done. However, to be recognized directly, it will be a little difficult because the symptoms can look almost the same, and someone with schizophrenia may experience the disease.
To determine whether your girlfriend has one or both, it is recommended to consult again with a psychiatrist who is caring for your girlfriend.
I hope this helps.
