Hello Mila Tarigan,
Covid-19 (corona virus disease) is a disease caused by a recent infection of the corona virus strain (Sars-Cov-2) that first became epidemic in Wuhan city. Covid-19 is a pandemic disease, whose spread can be found in almost all countries in the world.
Current Covid-19 transmission has been proven through droplets (coughing, sneezing, heavy breathing) that are inhaled (inhaled) or when there is touching contaminated objects by hand then the virus-contaminated hand touches the nasal mucosa, mouth, or eye.
From the first infection with the virus until symptoms appear, on average 14 days (can be faster or slower). Symptoms that appear in patients are very diverse and similar to other respiratory infections. However, the most common symptom found in covid-19 patients is fever (> 38 degrees Celsius). Of the> 55 thousand patients in China analyzed by WHO, symptoms of fever can be found in 88% of patients positive for Covid-19. Other symptoms that could be felt by Covid-19 patients from the study were dry cough (68%), tiredness (38%), expectoration (33%), shortness of breath (19%), bone and joint pain (15%) , sore throat (14%), headache (14%), chills (11%), nausea or vomiting (5%), nasal congestion (5%), diarrhea (4%), coughing up blood (1%), and swollen eyes (1%).
Because of its very infectious nature, this disease is very easy to spread. Not all who are infected will become sick and symptomatic. Most people only suffer from mild symptoms such as fever, cough and runny nose, but a small number of people, especially those who have weak immune system (elderly, people with chronic diseases) will become seriously ill. The virus can attack the lower respiratory tract and cause symptoms of severe pneumonia to respiratory failure, in some cases the infection spreads throughout the body and cause damage to other organs.
If you feel that you have been in contact with a Covid-19 / suspect Covid-19 patient (see symptoms) and you now know that patient is being treated OR You have traveled to an area with a local Covid-19 transmission, you can report yourself via the 119 hotline ext 9 to get further instructions on whether it is necessary to get a Covid-19 supporting examination and how the investigation runs.
If it does not meet the Covid-19 examination criteria, if you have a cold cough or other infectious disease (mild symptoms and can have regular activities) you should stay at home, not travel, do social distancing including at home, wear a mask at home if you cough runny nose so as not to infect other family members, do the proper cough ethics, practice clean and healthy living behaviors (diligently washing hands with running water + alcoholic soap or hand sanitizers, eating nutritious foods + vitamin supplements that are adjusted to your needs, getting enough rest). You can taking colds cough medicines (read the rules of use and contraindications for use), if symptoms are severe, please go to the nearest health facility for treatment.
If you are not sick with Covid-19 but you are suffering from another respiratory infection you will certainly be more susceptible to contracting if you are still traveling. If you have to go to a health facility, pay attention to the following:
Wear a mask to avoid infecting other patients or contracting other patients. Do not go by public transportation (which is congested with passengers) Avoiding crowds. Wash your hands regularly with running water and soap. Please check your Covid-19 risk here. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
