Children Feel Tightness And Pain When Swallowing Food, Is It Corona?
Good Morning, introduce me Irma, my child from yesterday experienced a bit of shortness of breath and today my child said it was rather painful when swallowing food. Does my child have symptoms of this corona virus? U003cbr / u003eTo eat it there is still no problem.
Thank you for the question.
With the rise of news about the Covid-19 pandemic, and the appearance of symptoms that seem similar to infection with the virus in children, it makes parents worry, and we understand your concern as a parent. Covid-19 is a disease caused by the corona virus which can cause symptoms in the respiratory tract, such as a fever accompanied by a cold cough and sore throat. However, the thing to note is the history of traveling to a country affected by Covid-19, a history of exposure to people who have traveled to an infected country or have been positive about Covid-19. In addition, investigations need to be done such as blood tests, throat swabs, and lung x-rays to see disorders of the lungs and confirm positive / whether or not against Covid-19.
In general, shortness of breath accompanied by swallowing pain can be caused by upper respiratory infections such as common cold or acute pharyngitis caused by rhinovirus that can heal by itself in a matter of 1 week without the need for special treatment. However, if the complaint does not improve for more than 1 week, accompanied by severe shortness of breath, the child becomes inactive, and high fever, immediately consult the child to a pediatrician.
The following things children can do to reduce complaints:
Take pain relievers such as paracetamol.
Drink warm water to relieve swallow pain.
Avoid drinking / foods that are sweet, spicy, and fatty.
Need for daily nutrition and adequate fluids.
Familiarize hand washing with soap and water regularly.
Resting children within the next 1-2 weeks.
Hopefully this information can help and hope that children recover quickly.
