Colds 2 Weeks That Never Heal?
I want to ask if a cold has been cured for 2 weeks, why?
Hello Njnana, thank you for asking.
Colds are generally a symptom of an acute upper respiratory tract infection. The most common cause of colds is influenza. Influenza is caused by a virus, so generally the disease will heal itself within a period of approximately 1 week. If a cold continues for up to 2 weeks or more, there are several possibilities that occur, namely:
Influenza infection with bacteria. Bacterial infections cause ongoing colds and coughs, can be accompanied by fever, and yellowish green nose or phlegm. Allergic rhinitis. Allergy to an ingredient, such as dust, smoke, animal hair, pollen, or other materials, often causes long and recurring rhinitis. It can be accompanied by itching on the nose, eyes and throat, and watery eyes. Sinusitis. Blockage in the mouth of the sinus due to mucosal irritation, can cause the development of bacteria in the sinus cavity. Symptoms can include fever, runny nose, throbbing headaches especially when looking down, pain in the upper jaw. The ear feels like it's blocked due to an airway infection. The infection causes the eustachian tube which connects the middle ear and throat, becoming inflamed so that it cannot open and close to adjust the air pressure. Consult this matter with your doctor. The doctor may perform blood sample analysis or radiological examination if deemed necessary. Please do not start taking any antibiotics without doctor's advice. Use a mask when you are in a public space so that you do not infect others. Make sure your hands are always clean and don't hold your face when you don't need to (to prevent you from transmitting bacteria or viruses from the hands to the environment).
Hopefully this answer can help. Regards.
