Hello, I have been wearing dentures since 2013. at first my doctor said that I would use dental implants, but instead I got a denture that had a wire and my teeth had already been pulled out. for dental implants is it still possible if there are no roots ,? or is there another method that is still possible for me?

1 Answer:

Good afternoon Sartika, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com. There are many ways that can be done to get around the condition of missing teeth, including using dentures, implanting teeth / dental implants, closing the cavity of a tooth with braces, and using dental crowns or dental brackets. Each of these methods has advantages and disadvantages of each, and is determined also according to the clinical condition of each person's teeth.

Regarding your question, by definition, a dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is shaped like a bolt and implanted in the patient's jaw to replace the missing tooth root. So according to that definition alone, it doesn't matter if the roots of your teeth are gone. Because precisely the function of the implant is to replace the tooth root.

It's just that you need to note that not all methods apply to everyone. And maybe there is a reason behind your dentist's decision to initially intend to use the implant, but later changed it to another method. Among the reasons for which implant selection cannot be made and must be postponed or replaced by other means are:

Are undergoing radiotherapy in the neck or head area.
Suffering from diabetes or heart disease.
Lack of gums and jaw bones that are healthy enough to have dental implants installed.
Is a heavy smoker.
It is considered difficult to meet the commitment of care during and post implant placement
Having conditions that interfere with bone growth and health

Therefore, we suggest, if you want to replace your dentures with implants, you should continue to do the examination and consultation in advance with the dentist, may the same dentist and another dentist, to later do an initial examination and ensure that You can indeed use this method. What is clear, do not do dental care in other professions other than dentists who do not have the capacity to do so. So, hopefully answering your question.
