Consumption Of Fenugreek While Breastfeeding And Whether To Reduce The Effectiveness Of Birth Control By 1 Month?
Hello doctor, I want to consume fenugreek to make ASI smooth. But I joined in 1 month injection, he said fenugreek contains pytoestrogens. Will it affect the effectiveness of the injection syringe?
Good morning, thanks for the question
1 month injection contraception or called a combination injection KB because it contains hormones both estrogen and progesterone. The effects include thickening cervical mucus, inhibiting the development of endometrial walls, and suppressing ovulation to prevent pregnancy.
Fenugreek is believed to be able to help nursing mothers whose breast milk supply is felt to be lacking. Fenugreek can increase milk production because it works as a galactagog which is a substance to influence the supply of milk. it works by stimulating the mammary glands to increase milk production.
Phytoestrogens work like estrogen in the body. Phytoestrogens will be weakly bound to estrogen receptors in the body, so maybe the effect will not be as strong as natural estrogen in the body.
In general, the use of fenogreek does not reduce the effectiveness of KB for 1 month, it might actually strengthen the effects of estrogen that already exist.
So, hopefully it can be useful
