Consumption Of Hormone Drugs In Conjunction With Mushroom Drugs?
Dr. I was on hormone therapy and Dr. gave me Cylo-Progynova for 3 months. I have to take the medicine so my menstruation is going well. And I have a pain in the nail / fungus, can I take intraconazole while I am taking therapy with Cylo-Progynova?
Good evening, thanks for the question
Cyclo progynova contains the hormone estradiol and norgestrel which are used as hormone replacement therapy. The use of this type of drug in conjunction with antifungal drugs, including itraconazole can cause changes in levels of both hormones. It is feared that this condition will interfere with the effectiveness of hormone therapy.
The combination of these two types of drugs can trigger nausea, vomiting, and vaginal bleeding. Before taking this type of mushroom medicine, you should first consult with your treating doctor. Dose adjustment may be needed if antifungal treatment must be given in conjunction with hormonal therapy.
Inform your doctor about all the drugs that you are taking, including vitamins and herbal medicines, bearing in mind there is always a risk of drug interactions if taken together. It's best to avoid taking any medicine without clear medical indications and doctor's recommendations.
That's all, hope you can help.
