Hello doc I want to ask if coughing up phlegm and runny nose (usually occurs at night) without shortness of breath and high fever can it be a symptom of corona?

1 Answer:

Hello Dona, thank you for asking at

I will try to help answer.

Complaints of cough with phlegm and colds can be caused by several things such as:

Flu: is an infection caused by a virus that attacks the respiratory tract. Symptoms include fever, headache, nasal congestion, cough and runny nose.

Rhinitis: is inflammation that occurs in the nasal cavity. Symptoms include nasal congestion, runny nose, headache, fever can be accompanied by cough.

Generally the symptoms if someone is infected with corona virus are:

Out of breath
Travel history to areas where corona outbreaks are happening
Or make contact with people who have contracted the corona virus

For now, you don't need to worry. Get enough rest at home and eat healthy food. Avoid going outside and contact with other people for a while. Use a mask or mouth cover when coughing and sneezing to prevent the wider spread of the corona virus.

But, if complaints such as high fever, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, immediately take it to the nearest hospital to get further treatment.

Thus a brief explanation from me, hopefully can help. thanks.
