Cough Accompanied By Reddish Phlegm Rather Dense?
hello, i want to ask. it’s been 4 days I have phlegm nasal congestion. today I cough up phlegm that has a reddish color and the texture is like solid fat. this happened 2 times. after that, I no longer wanted and my chest and breathing became plong. Does that mean I’m cured? what about my phlegm earlier? Are there other indications of disease? thank you
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
A cough accompanied by bloody phlegm can be caused by many possibilities. The following are some of them:
lung disorders such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis infection, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary edema, trauma / injury to the lung, lung cancer
disorders of the heart such as heart failure
autoimmune diseases such as lupus, wegener, churg-strauss, etc.
the use of illegal drugs such as cocaine
use of blood thinning drugs
Most causes of coughing up blood are acute bronchitis. In acute bronchitis, inflammation of the bronchi of the lungs causes blood vessels in the bronchial area to widen, become more fragile and break easily. When you cough hard, the blood vessels in this area can rupture, causing phlegm mixed with blood. Acute bronchitis is often caused by a viral infection that can heal on its own, so for the time being, you should monitor your symptoms first. If indeed the blood is only a small amount, only comes out occasionally when you cough hard, there is nothing you need to worry about. If the blood comes out very much, your cough does not improve after 7 days, you experience shortness of breath heavy, immediately consult a doctor to get further evaluation and therapy.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
