Cough And Cold In Babies Doesn’t Go Away?
hello, my baby is 4 months old and has a cold and cough for more than a week and has not had a fever, the midwife was given syrup but has not recovered, especially the cold. what do I have to do . thanks
Hi Lifia.. Thank you for the questions given.
Babies still often get flu, cough, cold because at that age the child's immune system is still not perfect. Flu in children can be caused by:
Bacterial infection -- accompanied by the presence of mucus/yellow or greenish mucus Viral infection -- clear mucus Allergy-- especially if parents have allergies, the child is more at risk of having congenital allergies, so the child is more sensitive when exposed to dust/ dry air / cold air / certain foods While coughing in children can be caused by:
Bronchiolitis Pneumonia -- lung infection caused by bacteria
If there is still no improvement in the child's cough and cold, the fever returns, the child's appetite decreases, the child is fussy, then it is better for you to have your child checked by a Pediatrician. The doctor will perform a detailed physical examination and provide treatment according to the cause of your child's complaints.
What you can do with your child:
Get enough rest and continue to give breast milk, as well as nutritious food. Accompany the provision of multivitamins. Avoid exposure to dust/cold temperatures if the child has allergies.
