Cough Up To A Week And Expectorate?
Hello doctor..i afiqah is 17 years old..I want to ask..i have been coughing for a week..and I get out very little..and my throat is getting sicker when I cough..termatic fever..and I’m absorbed in migraine..and When I cough, tears come out … why are you a doctor?
Wa alaikumsalam, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com. A cough that lasts for a week actually still has many possibilities, including:
Acute airway infections Allergy Asthma Tuberculosis Pulmonary inflammation
As for phlegm discharge, pain in the pharynx, fever and tears, is a natural thing to happen. Phlegm is mucus released by the respiratory system in response to certain stimuli, pharyngitis can occur due to muscles that are attracted by repeated coughing or due to throat infections, even fever can be an infection response, and tears can be aroused when coughing too hard. Sneezing can have the same effect on tears.
So our suggestion is that you handle the cough first by checking with a general practitioner or directly to a pulmonary doctor. The doctor will do a brief history, physical examination and maybe support such as blood tests and x-rays to narrow down the possibility before giving treatment which is generally in the form of oral medication, can include anti-inflammatory and cough suppressants.
Meanwhile, multiply the consumption of warm water, soup, apply warm balm to the chest area, and avoid stress, cigarette smoke and eat lozenges. So, hopefully answering your question.
