Doctor, is there a way to detect a silent carrier?

1 Answer:

Hello M Ahdi,

COVID 19 or a disease due to corona virus infection (SARS-CoV-2) can cause symptoms that vary, for example fever, coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, headache, sore throat, and diarrhea. In some people do not even cause any symptoms or very mild symptoms such as body discomfort or aches. If it does not cause symptoms, the person is said to be a carrier. Carriers can still transmit the corona virus to others.

Therefore it is necessary to apply social and physical distancing to reduce the spread of corona. Staying at home alone will reduce the possibility of the corona virus carrier to transmit it to others. If there are mild symptoms it is also highly recommended to isolate yourself at home for at least the next 14 days. If more severe symptoms appear, you can see a doctor. If there is a history of contact with patients under surveillance, monitoring people, or even corona-positive patients, it is recommended to contact the corona hotline.

Until now, early detection of corona in Indonesia has been carried out through blood and X-ray tests, if there is suspicion a rapid test or swab can be done. If the rapid test is negative, a repeat rapid test can be done in the next 1-2 weeks. And if the rapid test is positive, then a throat swab is examined.

Do you currently feel symptoms of respiratory tract infections? You can try to check the risk of corona transmission by answering a few questions here.

Hope it helps you,

Thank you
