1 Answer:

Hello, Lisma.

Thank you for consulting

Symptoms of coronavirus infection or coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) or severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) can sometimes mimic a viral infection that causes flu, such as rhinovirus. However, complaints from the common cold generally originate from the upper respiratory tract, whereas in COVID-19 the complaints are generally from the lower respiratory tract.

Symptoms of the common cold include sneezing, sore throat, nasal congestion, headaches and relatively mild fever. While the important symptoms of corona virus infection are high fever (more than 38 degrees Celsius), cough, severe shortness of breath, so that sufferers can experience difficulty speaking. In addition it can be found symptoms not typical such as headache, sore throat, sneezing, muscle aches, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.

Suspicion toward corona virus infection is if there are any of the following:

Clinical symptoms include cough, headache, sore throat, sneezing, high fever (more than 38 degrees Celsius), severe shortness of breath
A history of traveling to a country with an outbreak of corona virus infection (for example China, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the United States and Italy) in the past 14 days; or, live in a local transmission area (for example DKI Jakarta, Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, Bekasi City, Bekasi Regency, Bandung, Depok City, Karawang, Bogor City, Bogor Regency, Surabaya, Magetan and Malang Regency)
A history of contact with people who have tested positive for corona virus

If you find the symptoms listed in point 1, especially high fever and severe shortness of breath, immediately call the 119 extension 9 hotline, especially if you have a history of traveling to a country with a COVID-19 outbreak in the last 14 days, or living in local transmission area (point 2), and has a contact history (point 3). Or you can also mememksakan yourself at the nearest health facility which is a means of corona virus infection referral. Don't forget to wear a mask and always carry an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with an alcohol content of at least 60%.

But if you only experience mild flu symptoms without severe shortness of breath and high fever, you should stay at home. This is important to break the chain of spread of corona virus infection. Because in people with a good immune system, especially the young age group, sometimes only experience mild symptoms even though they have been infected with the corona virus, even in some people can be asymptomatic at all.

However, despite having mild symptoms, these people can act as carriers or spreaders who transmit corona virus infection to certain groups, namely the elderly (elderly), people who have a history of diabetes mellitus, a history of immune system disorders (severe combined immunodeficiency disease or abbreviated as SCID), or people who have a history of long-term corticosteroid treatment (for example, people with lupus or other autoimmune diseases). In this group, corona virus infection can develop into severe disease and can even be fatal.

Thus, if you do not experience severe symptoms, especially high fever and severe shortness of breath as listed in point 1, you should just stay at home, while treating yourself. If there is mild headache, sore throat or mild fever, you can take paracetamol. There is also a need to adopt a diet with balanced nutritional consumption, lots of drinking water, taking vitamins, adequate rest and regular exercise. In addition, you should always wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or wash your hands with alcohol-based hand sanitiziers with a minimum alcohol content of 60%, do not touch your eyes, nose and mouth with dirty hands, avoid contact with people those who have a fever and cough, always clean the surface of furniture that is often touched (for example, a desk) with disinfectants, avoiding crowds or public places, and only going out if really forced.

You can also do a free self-assessment provided by to find out whether there is a risk of corona virus infection, which can be accessed here.

Thus information from me, hopefully can be useful.
