CT Scan Indication?
I want to ask, can I do a general check up with a CT scan? Because before I had a general check-up, thanks
Thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com
CT scan examination is a medical examination procedure using a combination of X-ray technology with a special computer system to see conditions in the body from various angles and pieces of imaging results.
CT scan results have more detailed quality and depth than ordinary X-rays. There are various types of CT scans including multi slices CT scan (MSCT) and electron beam CT scan (EBCT). All these types of CT scans produce images that represent "pieces" of the body like pieces of white bread.
CT scan is an important tool for diagnosing disease, trauma or disorder in patients with symptoms and signs of a disease. CT scans are also used in planning, guiding, and in evaluating the therapeutic progress of a disease.
For now, CT scans in health screening are only performed on people with heart disease, namely to assess the condition of the coronary arteries in the heart.
However, there is no literature that states that the use of CT scans in healthy people is more beneficial than the radiation risk obtained. Radiation resulting from a CT scan is classified as high radiation exposure so it is only used if the benefits outweigh the risks that will arise from radiation exposure.
Thus, hopefully this is useful.
