Hello Dilly Violet,
Polyhydramnios is a condition where the amniotic fluid exceeds normal volume. Polyhydramnios can cause complaints of shortness of breath, swelling in the legs, uterine contractions. Polyhydramnios can cause complications in the form of premature birth, breech fetal presentation, stillbirth, placental abruption, and so on. Causes of polyhydramnios conditions include:
Diabetes mellitus in pregnant women
Defects in the digestive tract of the fetus
Twin to twin transfusion (in twin pregnancies)
Infection during pregnancy
The condition of polyhydramnios can be detected from physical examination and supporting examination in the form of ultrasonography (measurement of amniotic fluid index). Mild cases of polyhydramnios rarely require special therapy, if there are underlying causes such as diabetes, then the therapy is aimed at treating the cause.
If the doctor suggests coming back for control, it should really come at the appointed time. You must be vigilant if you feel fetal movement is reduced, water leakage out or in large quantities, there is blood coming out of the genitals (not mixed with mucus), immediately see a doctor if you experience this.
Thus the explanation from me, may be useful.
