Dangers Of Baby Clothes Exposed To Cigarette Smoke?
Hello, I have a question, I have a 3 month old baby. I live in a smoking neighborhood. Every time I dry baby clothes, I am often exposed to cigarette smoke, whether it is still wet or dry. Is it dangerous for clothes that are drying in the sun to be exposed to cigarette smoke? What a good solution.. Thank you
Hello Diita, Thank you for your question on HealthReplies.com
Cigarette smoke that is inhaled by passive smokers is more dangerous than that inhaled by active smokers, children and infants are the most vulnerable when exposed to cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke smoked at home will expose toxic substances that are very effective, because they can stick to clothes, floors, hair, hands and all objects in the room, and spread quickly in just a few minutes. Cigarette smoke can stay in the air for about 2.5 hours, even when the air vents are opened, the smoke will stay in the air in the smoking area. Therefore, do not allow your child to be inside or outside the house where there are smokers. Children who are still in the development stage will be vulnerable to being exposed to cigarette smoke and exposed to respiratory system disorders, and the types of diseases that infants or toddlers are susceptible to are exposed to cigarette smoke, namely:
Decreased lung function
Therefore, if you are a smoker or have been exposed to an environment that surrounds smokers when you come home, you must immediately wash your hands, change clothes, or take a shower so that your entire body is clean before interacting with your child. If your child often has a cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, you should consult a pediatrician, so that an examination of your child is carried out, regarding the condition of his lungs, by conducting a blood test and a chest X-ray.
Some things you can do
Avoid drying clothes outside
always clean the floor and furniture of your house
Avoid your child playing too long outside the house
