Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com. I am dr. Princess Claudya will help answer your questions.

Diarrhea is defined as watery stools that come out more than 3 times a day. Your diarrhea can be caused by:

Typhoid fever: caused by a bacterial infection of salmonella typhi. Initial symptoms are flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, muscle aches, joint pain, weakness, which will continue to be fever-like symptoms continuously and increase in the afternoon, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, bowel disorders (diarrhea or constipation)
Bacterial infections other than S typhi, for example E coli (liquid diarrhea, can bleed or not depending on the type of bacteria), shigella (bloody bowel movements), vibrio cholera (lots of diarrhea, like washing rice)
Viral infection, for example by rotavirus
Colon infection due to use of antibiotics (pseudomembrane colitis)

Irritable bowel syndrome: diarrhea due to the influence of psychological stress

To ascertain the cause, you should see a general practitioner for a direct check on the condition of your digestive tract. If necessary, the doctor will perform supporting examinations such as blood tests, stool examinations, or refer you to an internal medicine specialist to determine the exact cause. And after that you will be given treatment according to the underlying cause.

Things you should do to prevent the disease from worsening:

Drink enough water to prevent dehydration. The daily fluid intake is 2 liters per day. If you have diarrhea, you have to balance the discharge by increasing your extra fluid intake
Avoid spicy, acidic, and high-fiber foods
Wash hands before eating
Make sure the food you eat is clean and not contaminated.
Get enough rest
Management of stress well.

So many explanations from me, hopefully helpful and useful. Get well soon :)

Regards,

dr. Princess Claudya
