Diagnosis Of Hepatitis B Virus Is Not Detected?
Afternoon doctor, I Valen aged 33 years suffering from Hepatitis B, after treatment for six months taking medication before the results of his lab tests showed that the virus was not detected. Does this mean I have recovered completely? Do I not need treatment anymore? Thank you.
Hello Valen, thank you for asking.
In principle, there is no cure for hepatitis. Medications given to people with hepatitis are to treat symptoms and to prevent viral replication. The virus is prevented from damaging the liver tissue too badly. That is, the drug is controlling so that hepatitis does not become severe, not cure. Your immune system will cure the disease. Symptoms can subside within 2-4 weeks. Liver tissue can recover in 4-6 months.
If the results of your examination did not get the virus in the blood, then most likely you were free of hepatitis. However, in hepatitis B and C, there is always a risk of someone experiencing chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. Therefore, even if you are declared healed, it is better for you to continue to control routinely, so that if there is a suspicion of chronic hepatitis, it can be immediately identified and treated. You can discuss this with the doctor who treats you.
Thus my brief explanation. Hope you recover soon. Regards.
