Difference Between HSG And USG Examination?
Tonight doctor, I want to ask what is the difference between the fallopian tubes examination with sono and HSG thx_nur
Good evening, thanks for the question
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the main examination method to assess the patency of the fallopian tubes, especially in cases of infertility. During the examination, a contrast agent was inserted to fill the fallopian tubes and then photographed with x-ray rays. The weakness of this method is that it cannot assess the uterus and ovaries, is at risk of allergic contrast fluid in some individuals, causes discomfort to the patient during examination, as well as x-ray exposure.
Whereas ultrasonography (USG) is better in assessing the uterus and ovaries, but cannot properly assess the tube unless there is abnormal fluid in or around the tube. Ultrasound examination is safer and more comfortable for patients but is not an optimal examination method for assessing tubal patency.
You should consult with your doctor again for the best examination of your case.
That's all, hope you can help
