Polyuria and diuresis are similar conditions but they are used differently. Both increased urine production.
Diuresis is associated with increased urine production. As a result of certain drugs, hormone disorders regulating urine production, diseases related to the urinary system such as kidneys, high blood pressure, and due to cold temperatures.
Polyuria is associated with increased urine production which often occurs in metabolic diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus, where the amount of urine reaches 3-3.5 liters per day.
Diuresis does not have to reach a value like Polyuria because it is a condition that can occur physiologically (normal) due to a form of compensation, whereas Polyuria is a symptom of certain diseases.
