Good afternoon, I want to ask, my child has complete basic immunization for up to 9 months, now my child is 15 months old, at the posyandu my child was given diphtheria immunization, what is the danger, while the rules in the book are 18 months old?
Hello Suryaayu, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
First of all, I want to confirm first, whether the diphtheria immunization given to these children is indeed a booster immunization for basic immunization or is included in the government immunization program (ORI - Outbreak Response Immunization) given in response to diphtheria outbreaks in Indonesia?
Both are actually fine to be given at the age of 15 months. Recommendations from IDAI (Indonesian pediatrician association) are indeed given a booster at 18 months, but actually this booster may be given between the ages of 15-18 months. Later this booster will be given again at the age of 5 years, and repeated every 10 years.
If what is given is immunization in the ORI program, then your child will be scheduled for diphtheria immunization again 1 month after the first vaccine, and 6 months after the second vaccine (0-1-6).
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
