Hello, my child is 1.5 years old, he is still breastfeeding and sometimes drinks UHT milk … today his defecation is runny, greenish yellow color and a day to defecate max 3x … , she usually vomits and bloats too .. n Indeed, a few weeks ago she was sick with vomiting and indeed her bowel movements were a bit soft, the maem decreased a lot, but I took it to the doctor and it was healed like usual. watery, then a bit frothy .. nFYI last December my son just had a bowel invagination surgery … does it really have anything to do with it? nIs there anything I need to worry about too? Then what should I do? NThank you.
Hello Mrs. Beataraisa,
Defecation in both children and adults can vary greatly in shape, color and consistency. Even every day can be different, depending on what we eat and the condition of the digestive tract. Usually, bowel movements in children who have eaten solid food more regularly, 1-3 times a day with a more dense consistency, almost like adults. Liquid defecation can indicate an infection, allergy, intolerance or food poisoning.
Green liquid bowel movements can occur due to excess lactose, for example due to cow's milk, gastrointestinal infections or imbalance of drinking foremilk and hindmilk in breast milk (drinking too much watery parts of breast milk). Lactose or excess gas in the gastrointestinal tract, and gastrointestinal infections can cause foamy bowel movements.
Currently, it is difficult to conclude what happened without a history and direct examination, but if your child is in good condition, such as no fever, vomiting, is still active and wants to eat and drink, then you don't need to worry too much. Diarrhea in children is when the bowel movements are more fluid than usual and the frequency is more frequent than usual. Most diarrhea in children goes away on its own. Make sure you have enough fluid intake to prevent dehydration. (Also read: Diarrhea in Children)
At this time, if your child is still active and has no complaints, you can continue to monitor the symptoms while giving lots of fluids. No need to change food, give breast milk at will. UHT or formula milk can be temporarily stopped to ensure that this is not caused by the milk. If you have a lot of liquid bowel movements, there are signs of lack of fluids such as fussiness, thirst, sunken eyes, or there are symptoms of fever, abdominal pain, the child looks sick, weak, doesn't want to eat and drink, you should immediately take it to the doctor for treatment.
