Distribution Of L Zinc Syrup Medicine?
Good afternoon, My child is 2 years and 8 months consuming L zinc syrup due to diarrhea. In the morning my husband kept the syrup on the refrigerator door, because I forgot to tell my husband the storage at room temperature. About 3 hours of the syrup on the refrigerator door. Does this affect the quality of syrup? Can you still consume it? Because my child is only 3 days after 10 days of consuming the syrup. thanks.

Storage of drugs is important to maintain the quality of substances contained in them. Inadequate storage can reduce the effectiveness of the drug and affect the patient's recovery. However, specifically for zinc syrup if you have already stored it in the refrigerator, although it is not yet known the change in the quality of zinc in the syrup, generally the drug is still safe for consumption.
Some things that are suggested are:
Before giving it to your child, leave the medicine at room temperature for a while (until the syrup is at room temperature), then take it. Get used to be careful in using drugs, always rereading: drug name, drug dosage, drug expiration date, storage method, rules of use (how to use), and contraindications, before consumption. For children who have diarrhea, it is recommended to use zinc syrup for 10 days, even though the symptoms have diminished / have improved. This drug is important for maintaining healing of intestinal mucosa. The complication that is avoided in the case of diarrhea is dehydration, therefore give plenty of fluids to the child (water). Temporarily, reduce the consumption of foods high in fiber, until the diarrhea improves. If also given antibiotics, give regularly until completely to avoid germ resistance improve within a few days, consult your GP or pediatrician who is treating your child. Specifically about drugs, if you are in doubt, consult with a pharmacist about how to store, quality of drugs, etc.
Thus, hopefully useful.
