Do I Have Sinusitis?
Hello doctor, I want to ask for 2 days now I feel my nose is still sore but only the left side is at the end of the nose, then I feel like sneezing just don’t sneeze, it comes out like water, then my throat also hurts to swallow food , hot body, do I have symptoms of synussitis or just the common cold? Thanks doctor
Sinusitis is a medical condition caused by inflammation of the sinus cavity, the sinus cavity itself is an empty cavity in the skull, this cavity should be sterile, but if there are bacteria or viruses it can cause inflammation of the sinus cavity. The symptoms of sinusitis are
Headache (especially on the face such as the cheek area, forehead and around the nose) High fever Nasal congestion accompanied by yellowish or greenish mucus Smells unpleasant odors and / or has decreased the ability to smell
Even though a person has some of the symptoms above, it is not guaranteed that the person has sinusitis, because the complaints above are also shared by other medical conditions such as upper respiratory infections, flu, rhombic infection due to infections, nasal polyps. So Fitri is advised to see a doctor so that further tests can be done.
As for some suggestions that Fitri can try to do to help relieve her symptoms, are:
Do not blow your nose forcibly while closing one nostril (dripping). Drink lots of water and consume vegetables and fruit. Inhalation of hot water vapor to help ease nasal discharge. Use a mask when traveling to public places and places where there is a lot of dust and smoke exposure.
