Do Not Redeem Medication After Psychiatric Consultation?
Hello wr wb. Good afternoon. My life is 21 years old, I experienced complaints, so I dared to go to a psychiatrist at the hospital where I live. I have been working at home or college for 1 year because of mental problems. The first article there I was asked to complain by nurses because the doctor has not come yet. My complaints feel sad, tired, anxious, afraid to leave the house, sometimes feel excited but easily offended. Feel confused, often forget what I just thought, easily tired, palpitations, dizziness, nausea, and strange feelings feel I should not be in this place etc. After that nurses told me to wait for a doctor. Because at the hospital so I waited for quite a long time from 8 o’clock the doctor came at 11.When I d called me into the room, but in that room a lot org there are 4 people next to the doctor. Behind me there are 6org students and 2 admin. There I think when the consul will be alone with the doctor because it’s privacy. But there are a lot of people. just asking for a name and then writing something, then asking my complaint, because I don’t feel comfortable with the situation, I just feel sad, tired, then the doctor immediately gave me the recipe that was written. Less than 5 minutes maybe, without asking anything. Immediately told me to come out after giving a prescription. I was confused I asked me why, the doctor immediately answered depression, I knew there was a problem in the family that was not finished, just like that without any other conversation. can easily diagnose me without face to face even before asking my doctor to write a prescription, maybe from the nurse’s note. But this makes me uncomfortable, the nurse only explains that I took the medicine that was prescribed after 2 weeks of control again. I feel uncomfortable and why take medication without explaining what medicine for what without even explaining my complaints. So I am confused whether I should seek treatment again or better to just a psychologist? Sorry my question is long. Thank you
Hello, Thank you for the question.
If you do not feel comfortable with a psychiatrist / psychiatrist you met before, you should consult with another mental specialist before you undergo further treatment. As a patient, you have the right to ask for other opinions from other doctors. Establishing / having a good relationship with the doctor is one of the important things for the patient so that the patient can undergo optimal treatment. Thus, do not hesitate to consult with another mental specialist. The complaint you mentioned does require further treatment because it already interferes with your daily life. Do you know the trigger for your complaint? Have you experienced any traumatic events in the past? The complaints you submit can be caused by:
acute stress disorder depression bipolar disorder anxiety disorders endocrine disorders such as hypothyroidism side effects of drug use Your complaint does require further examination by a psychiatrist / psychiatrist. Your doctor needs to ask you a number of questions to understand your condition. From this examination, the new doctor can determine the next treatment that can be in the form of drugs or psychological therapy. You can also consult a psychologist. The psychologist will also ask more about what you are experiencing. The difference, psychologists can only provide psychological therapy to you. Not infrequently, a psychiatrist will work with a psychologist to deal with your condition.
Please try to keep busy by doing things you like, like your hobbies, or you can also try to exercise regularly. Try to tell what you feel or think to your family or closest friends and do not despair of seeking help.
Hopefully this information is useful.
