Hello, my right eye is cylinder 1, my left eye is minus 4, if I use glasses with a minus difference, can I squint or not? Some say if farsightedness can be cross-eyed, because I want to replace the lens, thank you

Hello Akhmad Dhani,

There are various types of eye refractive disorders that can be experienced, including myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. Myopia arises because the size of the eyeball is too long or the strength of the refraction is too strong. Astigmatism arises because of the irregular curvature of the cornea. Myopia can be corrected by using glasses or negative spherical contact lenses. Astigmatism can be corrected with negative / positive cylindrical contact lenses or glasses. The use of glasses / contact lenses is useful so that the rays of the object being seen can be refracted precisely and focus to the retina of the eye (the layer in the light sensitive eyeball) and transmitted by the nerve of the eye to the brain so that we can see the object clearly.

Not wearing glasses even though a refractive disorder has been diagnosed, resulting in the retina not being exposed to light and amblyopia (lazy eye) which can cause the eye to not be corrected with sharp vision perfectly in any way.

Anisometropia is a term for the condition of one eye refraction disorder which is very different from the other eye. For example in your case. The image seen by the right eye and the left eye occurs in a large / size difference, so the eye and brain work hard to fuse (unite) the two shadows into one so they can see clearly (disrupt binocular vision). As a result, anisometropia patients often complain of:

Double vision
Eye strain / eye strain
Dizzy

The cause of anisometropia is usually from birth or can also accompany strabismus (squint). Not all anisometropia is accompanied by squint (strabismus). However, a squint can cause anisometropia and amblyopia if not treated immediately. Further consultation with an ophthalmologist is useful to determine the appropriate course of action for the condition. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
