hello doc, I have been coughing for about 3 days. Previously I felt my throat ache continue to cough and the flu also often sneeze and make my nose itch like a normal flu, but because of the current disease outbreak condition I was afraid of my dry cough, I did not have a fever and also not short of breath, do I have symptoms covid19? thank you doc
Thank you for the question.
COVID-19 can cause diseases with a variety of spectrums, ranging from those that are asymptomatic, mild to moderate, to severe. So, if you ask, if your complaints could be caused by COVID-19, then the answer, it could be yes, it could be no.
Apart from COVID-19, dry cough, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing and itchy nose that you experience can also occur due to other reasons, for example other microorganism infections, allergic rhinitis, tonsillitis, irritation, sinusitis, vasomotor rhinitis, rhinitis medical , gastroesophageal reflux disease, nasal polyps, nasopharyngeal cancer, excessive vocal cord stretching, and so on.
If it's true that you don't have a fever, shortness of breath, and other severe symptoms, and you don't stay / have traveled to an area affected by COVID-19 or have been in contact with sufferers / suspects of COVID-19, then you shouldn't panic. Relieve your complaints by resting a lot, diligently drinking warm water and eating fruits that are rich in vitamin C, multiply to eat warm soup food (for example ginger soup, warm broth), don't eat and drink cold and oily drinks, don't drink too artificial sweet drinks, reduce excessive shouting and talking, exercise regularly, don't leave the house unless it's an emergency, keep your distance from the people around you, improve your personal hygiene, wear a mask, and don't randomly exchange personal belongings with others.
If with the above efforts your complaint does not improve for a long time, or if other complaints appear more severe as we have mentioned before, it is better to check yourself directly to the doctor so that further treatment is possible .. Maybe, if you feel the symptoms are quite severe , the doctor will recommend that you undergo blood tests, x-rays, throat swabs, or also refer you to the ENT doctor / internal medicine.
Hope this helps ...
