Effect Of Contraception On Cervical Cell Inflammation?
lm now, I want to ask the doctor, the results of my papsmer are inflamed, and must be treated with SpOg, is it related because I have an IUD contraception, and I happen to have hormonal disorders Because before I used injection contraceptive for 1 month, is the inflammation serious?
Hello Lidya, Thank you for the question.
Pap smear is a screening / early examination to detect the growth of abnormal cells (cancer cells) in the cervix. This examination is done by rubbing the cervix to take a sample from the cervix which is then examined in the laboratory. In addition to detecting abnormal cells, this examination can also detect other abnormalities in these cells, such as cervical inflammation / cervicitis and vaginal infection. Inflammation of the cervix does not always give symptoms to the sufferer. Do you have any symptoms?
Cervicitis can be caused by a variety of conditions such as sexually transmitted infections, bacterial vaginosis, vaginal yeast infection, irritation from using tampons or intrauterine devices (IUD), or hormonal imbalances. The insertion of the IUD can also cause inflammation of the cervical cells. However, you are still advised to consult with an obstetrician and gynecologist for further examination. The doctor will ask further about your complaint and perform a cervical exam and pelvic exam to find out if the results of this examination are caused by something other than the IUD. If necessary, the doctor will also provide further treatment.
In the meantime, please avoid intercourse, especially if you experience abnormal vaginal discharge (discolored, smelled, or causes itching / burning in the genital area).
Hope this information is helpful.
