Effect Of Cyst Surgery On Fertility?
Last night, I had surgery to remove a cyst on the outside of my left vagina or in my Bartholin’s canal, and the doctor who treated me said that my hymen was accidentally torn. What I want to ask is, can these two problems affect my fertility and my future pregnancy?
A batholin cyst is a fluid-filled sac that occurs due to a blockage in the Bartholin's gland duct. These cysts can be of various sizes and can be painful. It is often located on both sides of the vaginal lips. The blockage itself can occur due to several factors such as bacterial infection, long-term infection, inflammation or other conditions. Self-diagnosis is carried out by physical examination or also supporting such as blood lab, ultrasound examination and other necessary examinations.
The treatment itself varies, ranging from giving medication, removing fluid from the cyst or marsupialization of the cyst, or removing the gland depending on the severity of the case. The condition of the cyst itself is located far from the reproductive organs such as the uterus or ovaries so that basically it does not interfere with fertility, but if left unchecked or repeated it can cause problems during intercourse. The tearing of the hymen also has no effect on fertility.
