Effect Of Masturbation On HIV Testing Results?
I did masturbation a few days before the first HIV test after 6 months and the results were negative did the masturbation affect / extend the hiv window period?
Hello Rexa98, thanks for asking with HealthReplies.com.
HIV testing is a procedure to detect whether there is an HIV virus infection in a patient. Doctors can recommend someone at high risk such as someone who has a history of unprotected sex, frequently changing partners, having same-sex sex, or using injecting drugs that are not safe to be able to undergo HIV testing once a year regularly. For patients suspected of being exposed to the HIV virus, the test should be carried out at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months from the first exposure to the virus.
There is a period called window period or window period because when an HIV virus is infected the body does not respond immediately and takes time to form antibodies. The HIV window period lasts for about 10 days to 3 months. Doctors usually also recommend that patients undergo a repeat test 3 months after the first test in order to be certain whether or not the HIV virus is infected.
Masturbation or masturbation will not affect or extend the window period of HIV. If you have been exposed to the virus then the body will produce antibodies that can be checked by testing for HIV. If you are married or have a partner, you are also advised to be able to check yourself and your partner to the doctor. The doctor can also do a physical examination or other laboratory tests to find whether there are other diseases or other sexually transmitted diseases.
Hopefully this information can be useful for you. Thank you
